“I would totally wear that.”
Not every event begins with planning. Some begin with instinct—and for Jeanette Mafata, that instinct was triggered by fashion.
That single reaction became the foundation for Tennis Wear, a concept developed under Bubbles Projects, now set to take place on 28 March 2026 at The Rooftop in Heidedal, Bloemfontein.
From the outset, the direction was clear. This is not an event where fashion plays a supporting role—it is the starting point. Inspired by the aesthetics of tennis, Mafata builds the experience around a clean, sporty visual identity, using the theme as more than decoration, but as structure.
The intention, as she explains, is to create a unique social experience—one that brings together fashion, good music, and good people in a way that feels deliberate and elevated.
That sense of intention is what defines Tennis Wear.
It is seen in how the theme is approached, and in how the overall environment is shaped. The influence of sport is not expressed through activity, but through what it represents. Mafata points to discipline, teamwork, confidence, and resilience—qualities that carry into the way people connect, express themselves, and experience the space.
Fashion, in this context, becomes the language of the event.
Sound as Part of the Experience
The music is designed to support that atmosphere, not distract from it.
Headlined by DJ Ash, the lineup includes Zeelow, D’Lo, Blaokid, Elegant Vibes, and Lucian Thee Deejay. Each artist was selected with intention, based on shared journeys and a respect for the craft.
Mafata highlights the importance of working with individuals who understand the vision. The headliner, described as a personal favourite, is recognised for his ability to take listeners on a musical journey through instinct and preparation.
What gives the lineup its strength is chemistry—an understanding between the DJs that allows them to move as a collective. The result is a sound that flows, rather than a sequence of isolated performances

What Comes Next
While Tennis Wear is not planned as a recurring event, Mafata is already working on future concepts.
These include a mental health-focused event series, as well as a women-centered platform titled “Spill the Tea”—an initiative aimed at shifting conversations toward something more meaningful.
The Mind Behind the Work
Beyond events, Mafata operates as both a creative and an educator.
As a teacher, she identifies preparation as her strongest asset. The same principles she applies in the classroom—passion, intentionality, planning, impact, and time management—are carried into her work through Bubbles Projects.
Through the company, she offers:
MC services
DJ bookings
Concept development
Marketing
Her approach remains consistent: delivering experiences that are structured, intentional, and well executed.
